In a talk I gave recently I mentioned 5 key themes that we try and visit every week as a family. It's not original to me but I loved it when I heard it and have tried to put it into practise. The idea is that, whatever is happening in our life, there are (at least) 5 things about God that are always true. Remembering one each day helps to anchor us whatever we face:
Monday - God the Father loves me
Tuesday - God the Son died for me
Wednesday - God the Spirit lives in me
Thursday - I'm on my way to glory
Friday - All things work together for the good of those who love God
I've attached a PDF of the poster that's up on our kitchen wall. There is a verse attached to each day that we use. Often that's all we have time for in the rush of the morning (we do other devotions at different times). The rest are other bits we use at different times and normally it has names of people we pray for each day but I've taken them out for this version for obvious reasons.
But in the madness and the mayhem we fight to be thankful for who God is and how he is acting in the world. Enjoy!
